Show Notes

Light is where you’ll find truth; truth is where you’ll find color.

Color is where you’ll find God.

Color is God.

It’s his love for you.

Have you ever thought of the world this way? Looked at color as something demonstrative of God’s love for us?

Have you ever viewed the world through a butterfly’s wings? Through a field of green, an azure sky, the brilliant skin of an orange?

The whiskers on the nose of a kitten? A bird in flight, a dolphin at play, a tiny baby’s cry? The sound of an orchestra, the smell of lavender, the feeling of being in love?

The face of your child.

Okay, so we could all go on and on about the things that touch our hearts. The point is, our God is in all of his creation.

In wild, brilliant color.

Color is God sharing himself with us!

Here on earth, color is defined as the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light.

Light is what makes color happen.

Color is a product of light and God IS light!

Light is what causes us to celebrate diversity—in our colors, culture, talents, experiences, etc.

In our stories.

We are meant to share them. Celebrate the differences in them. Understand our God a little more because of them.

Our stories reflect different attributes of our God. They testify to his everlasting goodness in myriad ways.

Our guest today on COLOR SPEAK is here to speak on this. And on motherhood and metamorphosis and blue butterflies.

If you don't consider yourself a mother, please stick with us anyway. Whether we physically give birth to another human or not, we women are called to mother. We are called to be light, color,  love, and support to those around us and particularly the younger people we mentor.

Mothering is aligning ourselves, in color, with the God who destined us for this, and so much more.

I am so happy to introduce you to author Natalie Dawn Hanson today, because she has written a book to help us soar in our dynamic, sacred purpose where all of this is concerned. She likens the journey to a metamorphosis similar to that of a butterfly. And what could be more colorful in imagery than a butterfly?
